The Seawall, Vancouver, British Columbia

The sun is finally shining down on what is usually a snowy bed of Canadian terrain. As the heat waves wash in, you might be looking to venture out towards the waterfront to enjoy a nice breeze and walk along a boardwalk. Boardwalks are an amazing place for you to take a first date or have a romantic sunset walk with a partner. Boardwalks are also great for family and friends to gather and soak up the sunshine with easy access to entertainment, food, and many sports-related activities such as volleyball, rollerblading, and more. We’ve narrowed down some of the friendliest boardwalks with the best views, foods, and entertainment in the Great White North.

1. The Seawall, Vancouver, British Columbia

This picture perfect boardwalk doesn’t need to be dressed up in neon lights or offer carnivals rides to shine and attract visitors. Many choose to stroll, bike, or rollerblade down this 22-kilometer path. The Seawall is one of the first North American boardwalks as it was built in 1917. The Seawall offers shopping, coffee to go, and quick meal fixes.

2. The Beaches, Toronto, Ontario

Every Toronto local knows that The Beaches are a go-to destination for summer. This seven-kilometer boardwalk is situation alongside Lake Ontario. This is the perfect spot for a romantic evening walk, a family day filled with laughter and ice cream, or a jog with your dog. This busy beach town also offers tons of food for both you and your furry friend to chow down on.

3. Waterfront Boardwalk, Halifax, Nova Scotia

This boardwalk offers a beautiful ocean view and smells of seafood from the many surrounding restaurants. This popular tourist destination is a great place to catch lunch, hear some live music, or view an acrobatic performance. If you’re looking to escape the heat pop into the Maritime Museum for an educational afternoon by the boardwalk.

4. Inner Harbor, Victoria, British Columbia

Like many other boardwalks, this one also offers street performances, shops, and food. However, this boardwalk also has a magical evening light show which is displayed on the legislative buildings. As well, many tourists take part in some untraditional pier activities such as walking ghost tours, whale watching, or rides in seaplanes.
